If you’re a streamer, you’re always looking for new ways to make your stream more interesting and give viewers something extra to engage with. That’s why I created the OBS Game News Ticker, a customizable ticker that automatically brings gaming headlines directly to your OBS stream.
The idea is simple: give streamers an easy way to display current gaming news without having to manually find and update headlines every time they go live.
Once the ticker is set up, it retrieves headlines from multiple gaming-related sources and displays them in a continuously scrolling ticker that can be placed anywhere in your OBS layout.
Customize It to Match Your Stream
Every stream looks different, so I wanted to make the ticker customizable without requiring users to dig into HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.
The OBS Game News Ticker includes a visual setup tool that allows you to customize the appearance and behavior of your ticker. You can change the ticker label, colors, font, font size, background transparency, ticker height, headline spacing, and scrolling speed.
You can also control how often the ticker checks for new headlines, adjust the number of headlines displayed, and enable or disable individual news sources.
The setup tool includes a live preview, so you can see how your ticker will look as you make changes.
When you're finished, the tool generates a customized ticker.html file for you. Add that file to OBS as a local Browser Source, and you're ready to go.
No coding required. No web hosting required.
Automatically Updating Gaming Headlines
The ticker is designed to pull headlines from a variety of gaming-related sources, including gaming news websites, official platform news sources, free-game feeds, and gaming communities.
Instead of manually updating a text file every time there's a new story, the ticker periodically checks for new headlines automatically.
When you first load the ticker, you may see a "Loading news headlines…" message while the latest stories are retrieved. Once they're ready, the headlines begin scrolling automatically.
The ticker is also designed so that if one news source is temporarily unavailable, other working sources can still provide headlines.
What's Included?
Your download includes everything you need to get started with the OBS Game News Ticker, including the ticker itself, the visual customization tool, setup instructions, a settings guide, and troubleshooting information.
I've tried to make the setup process as straightforward as possible, even if you've never worked with HTML files before.
Customize your ticker, download your personalized version, add it to OBS, and you're ready to use it on your stream.
Who Is It For?
The OBS Game News Ticker is designed for Twitch, YouTube, and other livestreamers who use OBS and want to add automatically updating gaming content to their broadcasts.
You could use it during gameplay, Just Chatting streams, pre-stream countdowns, BRB screens, or anywhere else you want to give viewers something extra to read and talk about.
It's also another way to bring gaming news into your community and potentially spark conversations about what's happening across the gaming world.
